PPE Checklist for Indian Construction Sites

AI AIM Infosoft 5 min read

Helmets, jackets, belts, gloves and footwear — the minimum safety kit a site should be issuing, and what to check before you buy.

Safety equipment is the one category where buying on price alone has consequences that show up on a person, not a balance sheet. This is the checklist we walk our dealers through.

Head Protection

Helmets should carry an IS 2925 mark, have an intact suspension harness and a chin strap that is actually used. Replace after any impact, no exceptions.

High-Visibility Clothing

Safety jackets need retro-reflective tape that is still reflective — wash cycles kill cheap tape fast. Check the tape, not the colour of the fabric.

Fall Protection

Full-body harnesses with a double lanyard for anything above two metres. A waist belt is positioning equipment, not fall arrest, and the two get confused on site more often than they should.

Hands and Feet

Match glove material to the hazard: leather for abrasion, nitrile for oils, cut-resistant for sheet metal. Safety shoes need a steel or composite toe and, on most sites, a penetration-resistant midsole.

Stocking Advice

PPE moves in volume and expires in storage. We help dealers size their standing order so stock turns before the material degrades.
